June has always been a special month for me. Back when I was a kid, it meant summer had arrived and school was over. Equally important was the fact that it was also my birthday month. Though I’m long out of school, I still associate June with freedom—and look forward to celebrating my special day. This year, on the day itself, we had dinner with friends then enjoyed a wonderful concert at the Ojai Music Festival. What a way to ring in a new year of my life! The following week, we went to see Sensorio—an amazing light display in Paso Robles.
Suffice to say, I’ve had a lovely June so far.
I continue to plug away on my new manuscript: Murder in Brown Bear Bay. I adopted that title as a placeholder, but who knows? It’s growing on me and might just end up on the finished product. I’m well past the midpoint and working in the second pinch point (where the darkness of the situation is experienced directly by the reader). Then it’s on to the second plot point—which, while I know WHAT it is, I have yet to figure out HOW I will work it in. But the story is picking up speed as the end grows near.
Back in April I was supposed to staff the Sisters in Crime booth at the L.A. Times Festival of Books for a couple hours and sign books. Unexpected car trouble had me exiting the freeway in Oxnard and looking for an auto shop. Later in the day, my car was deemed road worthy, but I didn’t make it to USC. That said, I find myself with a number of author copies of LET SLEEPING DOGS LIE (the final book in the Molly Madison Dog Wrangler mystery series) which I’d set aside for the event. And that means it is GIVEAWAY TIME! If you’re interested in receiving a paperback copy of the book, simply respond by saying Book It. (I’ll be giving away all six!)
Book it! Did I read correctly that it’s the final book in the series?!?! I loved the first two books so much. I hope you have more cozies with dogs in the future!
Book it!
